Iloilo City Tour

City Gallery

City Gallery Iloilo is located inside the City Hall of Iloilo City. It is where we can see Iloilo's Culture, Heritage, Landmarks, Festivals and values of Ilonggos.

The Rooftop

Yes! It is the rooftop of City Hall. Take an elevator up to the 7th floor and take a stairs going to the rooftop. We can oversee the Guimaras Island and the beautiful city of Iloilo.

Plaza Libertad

Libertad is coming from the word LIBERTY which means FREEDOM. It is where the first flag of the Philippines was raised in triumph after the spaniards surrendered Iloilo, led by Gen. Martin Delgado.

ARROYO FOUNTAIN

It is one of the prominent landmark right at the heart of Iloilo City. The Arroyo Fountain is named after of Sen. Jose Maria Arroyo, a well loved personality in Iloilo during his time and grandfather of First Gentleman, Mike Arroyo. The fountain implies their family’s power and influence in the past.

The older Ilonggos would sometimes would recall that the sculpture of the 4 women in the fountain used to be “unclothed.” Unfortunarely, the catholic church took notice and insisted that the “naked” women be given “clothes.” So the sculptors complied, and thus the present appearance of the Arroyo Fountain. It is also known as the ZERO KILOMETER of Iloilo City as it is used as gauge to measure distance from one place to Iloilo City.

MUSEO DE ILOILO

Located in Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City in the Western Visayas Region, the Museo Iloilo, or Iloilo Museum, is one of the main tourist attractions in the highly urbanized city. It is meters away from the Department of Tourism office, where excursionists can gather more tourism-related information, and the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The Iloilo Museum exhibits a collection of archeological, historical, ethnographical craft and tribal folk arts relating to Western Visayas. A number of relics and antiques in the collection were donated by the Ilonggos who are passionate about their province’s rich history. The museum also has a collection of priceless cultural artifacts like unique religious images and relics, silver pieces and church vessels that depict the Panayanon religious spirits.

NELLY'S GARDEN (Sight Seeing)

Nelly Garden, owned by the Lopez Clan, is one of the famous landmarks in Jaro, Iloilo City. Nelly’s Garden features a beautiful expansive landscaped lawn with a massive art deco style American-colonial heritage house as its backdrop.

JARO CATHEDRAL

The Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria (Lady of the Candles) is the only rose among the all-male collection of statues which line the walls of the cathedral’s interiors. The Lady of Candles is perched on a glass encased shrine carved out of the facade. The limestone is said to be continuously growing, and in fact had become too large to fit into its original niche just above the present one.
JARO BELFRY

The belfry, campanario, or belltower is a given fixture of every Catholic church. It houses the bells, which basically toll the hours, call the people to mass, and announce important events.

During the Spanish times, the belfry also served as watchtower against invaders. Such was the case of the Jaro belfry built around 1744. Made of bricks and limestone blocks, it was a three story tower 29 meters high. On July 17, 1787, the campanario was heavily damaged by a strong earthquake. Reconstruction only began in 1833 under the supervision of an Augustinian friar, Fr. Jesse Alvarez.
